This year, instead of making a New Year’s Resolution just yet, I invite you to go inward and reconnect with the cycles of nature to find your own true path to change. The transition into a new year naturally inspires reflection, but all too often, people rush to make change without seeking clarity.
Reconnect With The Natural Rhythms Of Change
While Jan. 1 is the new year according to the Gregorian Calendar (the calendar you and I have known our whole life), it isn’t actually a time of beginning according to the rhythms of nature. The Gregorian calendar was created by humans who had religious and political motivation motivating their choices. The timing of things isn’t reflective of our natural cycles. For example, the “new year” is in the middle of winter, which, typically is a time for rest and renewal, not birth and creation.
So – if you want to try something different this year, perhaps you could use this “new year” as a time to go inward, and seek connection and clarity. Then, in March (or anytime in the Spring or Summer or when your body feels the energy to do so), when the natural rhythms bring back life and the days get longer and the sun is shining more, you can use that clarity to enact change.
Healing Starts With Listening To Yourself
Going inward is about creating space to connect with yourself, understanding where you are emotionally, and identifying what you need to heal or nurture.
If you’ve experienced trauma or significant challenges, this process is particularly vital. Trauma can cloud your sense of purpose or make it harder to envision a future that feels authentic and fulfilling. Seeking clarity in these moments is a step toward regaining balance and aligning your mental health, spiritual health, and emotional health with your goals.
