How to be human. That’s what Season Two of the Inner Alchemy Podcast is all about—embracing the ups and downs of being a human being in a Human Doing World.

Now, don’t get me wrong: There’s no handbook for it. I can’t hand you a step-by-step and send you on your merry way. But I can tell you that no two paths are the same, and I hope that comes as a reassurance to you when so much of what we do in today’s dat and age is led by comparison. By sharing the different paths that different people take to their own healing and humanity, I hope you can tread your own path more confidently and courageously.

We are joined by Kel Bauer in Season 2, Episode 4 of the Inner Alchemy Podcast to discuss the path he took to embracing his humanity. Much of it wasn’t by choice, and yet, he embraced the wound to come to the healing.

Putting a Positive Spin on Social Media

Let’s be real for a second: Social media doesn’t always get the best rap, and often for good reason.

In our culture and in our world, everyone has their highlight reels on full display. We see people vacationing in the South of France or getting that big promotion at work, all while celebrating with their 2,000 Facebook friends that they haven’t spoken to in years. And sometimes, it makes it easy to forget that bigol’ elephant in the room.

It makes it easy to forget that being human is hard. It’s messy. It’s painful. It’s chaotic. And we don’t always see those parts of life from the other side of the screen.

Kel Bauer is using his own social media presence to turn the highlight reel into the human reel. He shares and celebrates his healing journey on Instagram, inspiring others to do the same. He uses his personal experiences with trauma and renewed outlook on life to build a space of vulnerability, healing, and unabashed authenticity.

Whether sharing his wisdom or taking thirty seconds to ‘dance it out,’ Kel is a light for so many. He actively takes steps towards his own healing, while growing alongside each and every one of his social media followers. He shows in real time that– even as a healer and helper– he doesn’t have it all figured out. (Spoiler: None of us ever do.)

Kel stands testament to how transformative transparency can be. He doesn’t sugar coat it, using his past hurts and isolation to learn more about who he is, who he needs, and who he wants to become.

3 Tips for Becoming Who You Need

Welcome to How To Be Human 101. I know I said there isn’t a one-size-fits-all recipe, but there are things we can do to inner alchemize our own existence. When we show up for yourself, stay hopeful, and follow these 3 tips, we can become who we need.

  1. Be vulnerable. Sharing the parts of life that don’t quite make the cut on your highlight reel isn’t easy, but when we decide to make that leap and really embrace our vulnerability, we encourage others to do the same. Vulnerability on a collective level is what our world needs more than anything, but it starts with one. It starts with you.
  2. Embrace growth. Healing doesn’t happen overnight. Every single step you take towards healing, no matter how big or small or even microscopic, makes a difference. Challenge yourself, recognize your growth in every size, scale, and season, and embrace the heck out of it. In Kel’s words: ‘All of it has a use and a purpose. And it will add up.
  3. Dance it out. The very essence of our beings are designed to move. Not to get all scientific on you (I can do that, too), but allowing your body to move releases stress and helps your nervous system regulate itself. Use dance as a way to step into your authenticity and celebrate the good.

To hear Kel’s thoughts on transparency, not knowing what you don’t know, and how he keeps it positive, listen to Kel’s episode of the Inner Alchemy Podcast. Subscribe on Apple Podcasts to be looped in on all of our episodes as they come out into the world!
